Teaching
Academia is my second career. I worked for a dozen years in corporate communications before returning to school to earn my doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition. Consequently, I understand the importance of clear, concise, well-crafted writing. The ability to clearly communicate ideas is a skill that will distinguish a person no matter what field they enter. This is something I stress in my professional writing and rhetoric courses.
Women's rhetoric is one of my main areas of research, and I frequently get to share my passion for this subject when I teach PWR 3316 Women's Writing and Rhetoric and WGS 2300 Women's and Gender Studies, An Introduction.

The annual Boundary Breaking Women's Panel is an event I helped establish as director of Women's & Gender Studies. During the panel faculty members discuss the achievements of 10 boundary breaking women.
